Diamonds for a Difference
Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association (NEDSRA) Contribution
And just like that, the holidays have arrived once again. Is there anyone else that feels that the years are starting to pick up speed? Snow will soon be falling, and the Christmas spirit is beginning to permeate through the cold, crisp air. At times, all the excitement and planning can bring about stress. Did I get the right size hat for grandpa? Did I put enough money on Aunt Maria’s Barnes & Noble gift card? What do we have for dinner? Did they lose my package again? So often, all this uncertainty, combined with what seems like an insurmountable number of tasks pulls us away from the true meaning of Christmas. It’s the season of giving – the ultimate time to pay it forward. Do something, no matter how big or small, that will help benefit somebody else.
We are so proud to be a part of a great community and so thankful to everyone that has supported our family business for so many years. While we like to give back to our community all year long, this year we’ve chosen a cause that’s near and dear to our hearts, the Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association, or NEDSRA for short.
With it being the season of gift-giving, and diamonds being a remarkable gift, we’ve created a special event for our customers to save on something sparkly that she’s going to remember forever AND help us support this special cause.
December 6th & 7th is our “Jingle, Mingle, Sparkle & Save” Holiday Diamond Event,
where a portion of the proceeds from this two-day sale will go towards the awesome folks at NEDSRA.
So, what exactly is NEDSRA anyways?
NEDSRA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Addison that, since 1977, has been offering award-winning recreational and social programs that improve the quality of life of people living with disabilities in DuPage County. The organization is comprised of and supported by a cooperative of eleven partners, all being park districts and village recreation departments in the DuPage area.
“NEDSRA, for us, is a second home where kids can meet other kids and have fun,” says Christina, a NEDSRA Cub Scout parent living in Glendale Heights.
Collectively, the eleven partners pool together resources and work together to provide comprehensive therapeutic programs and services, ranging from basketball tournaments, Special Olympics events, social clubs, and cultural arts to name a few. It is through these programs that attendees, ranging from ages 3 to adult, can make new friends, get involved in the community, build on their physical and mental health, and gain self-confidence.
“This is a difference we can see being made in the DuPage and greater Chicagoland area,” says Enzo Ancona. “Seeing the smiles on their faces and watching them meet new friends…how does that not warm your heart? We think that the portion of proceeds from our upcoming holiday diamond event is going to further assist one of the most caring non-profit organizations around.”
“This is something that we most definitely want to be a part of,” says Antonio Ancona. “Regardless of how you get involved, just check NEDSRA out. They’re a bunch of great people who are really making a difference.”
