CUSTOM JEWELRY DESIGN IN THE CHICAGO AREA

WHAT IS CUSTOM JEWELRY DESIGN?

Custom jewelry design allows you to work with a professional jewelry designer to create a piece that is entirely, exclusively yours. You’ll call the shots as you direct the process with your suggestions, guiding our designer your ideas and suggestions as she crafts a piece to your exact specifications.

We offer both whole-cloth custom design and jewelry restyling. Jewelry restyling allows you to take an old, sentimental piece, keep the elements you like, and update the rest to fit your current style.

Whether you’re restyling or creating something new, custom design lets you play a role in your jewelry’s creation. Your finished piece will be filled with meaning. From the overall look to the proportions and fit, it will be entirely yours.

WHY WE LOVE CUSTOM DESIGN

Katherine, our custom jewelry designer, says it best:

“People create custom jewelry to celebrate life’s most special moments, and I love being a part of that big moment in their lives. When I present the finished pieces to my clients, I often see happy tears.

Designing custom jewelry, you work so intimately with people that it feels more like a relationship than a transaction. I consider all of my clients my friends. It’s always an honor to help them bring their ideas to life.”

CUSTOM DESIGN INSPIRATIONS

THE CUSTOM DESIGN PROCESS

It all starts with your ideas. Maybe you have a complete design in mind already. Maybe all you have is a vague sense of what jewelry styles you like. Whether your ideas are fully formed or not, we’re here to help.

First, you’ll meet with our designer, Katherine, for a one-on-one consultation. Bring in pictures, sketches, Pinterest pictures, your own descriptions. We can even look around the store or at other custom pieces for inspiration. As you describe your piece, Katherine will sketch it with a pencil or pen.

Once she has sketched out your vision, she will make a 3D CAD rendering. The CAD rendering lets you see images of your piece at different angles, so you can see all aspects of the design.

Next, Katherine will print a wax for you to view and hold. After you approve of the wax model, she’ll get to work bringing your design to life.

How Much Does Custom Jewelry Cost?

It depends on the materials used to make the piece, the complexity of the piece, and whether we’re redesigning old jewelry or creating something entirely new. Whatever your budget is, we can work with you. We will give you a quote up front before you commit. There is a baseline $250 deposit for the CAD rendering.

How Long Does Custom Jewelry Take to Design?

Currently, our custom designs take from 4-6 weeks–typically closer to 4. We do our best to get your custom jewelry into your hands as soon as possible, but if your piece is a gift, plan ahead to be sure you get it on time.
